Congress & ExhibitionMario Rodríguez-Arozamena (Tecnalia) in ITS Congress.

On May 21st, 2025, a SELFY-related paper was presented at the 16th ITS European Congress that took place in Seville, Spain, between 19-21 May 2025, a flagship event for Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) in Europe that unites experts from mobility, technology, and policy to advance key clean, resilient and connected mobility initiatives.

Mario Rodríguez-Arozamena (Tecnalia) in ITS Congress.SELFY partner Mario Rodríguez-Arozamena, from Tecnalia, took part in a technical paper session on solutions for safety and presented the paper “A Fuzzy logic-based Safety Mode Decision Module for CCAM applications” authored by Mario Rodríguez-Arozamena, Iñigo Aranguren-Mendieta and Lucía Isasi.

The research depicts a fuzzy logic-based Safety Mode Decision algorithm designed to adaptively select the most suitable operational mode based on situational risk assessments, localization system status, and odometry covariance. The algorithm dynamically transitions between Normal, Degraded, and Fallback operation modes, enabling seamless responses to environmental uncertainties and localization challenges. Developed as part of the SELFY project, the algorithm is integral to the Cooperative Resilience and Healing System (CRHS) set of tools.

The SELFY project has researched and implemented a set of tools that are agnostic to OEMs and suppliers, being easily integrated in service and product development processes from the design stage considering the full Operational Design Domain (ODD) of the different CCAM scenarios.

The SELFY toolbox includes a set of tools focused on situational awareness, cooperative resilience, and trust and secure data exchange, which can be deployed in local, edge and cloud systems spreading across vehicles, infrastructure, and traffic management centres.
