City of Vienna – Wien leuchtet

The City of Vienna is both the national capital of Austria and one of Austria’s federal provinces. With a total size of 414 square kilometres and a population of about 1.92 million, it is by far the largest municipality in the country.

Wien leuchtet (Municipal Department 33 – MA 33) is responsible for public lighting as well as traffic light systems and traffic management infrastructure on Vienna’s roads and public squares. In this respect, Wien leuchtet operates a pilot site for traffic management and C-ITS infrastrucure on the ring road around Vienna’s city centre, consisting of 75 traffic lights (out of 1.300 in total).

Vienna will serve as pilot site for experimental SELFY setups, especially for Road Side Units centered Tools for Situational Awareness and the corresponding Real World Validation.
